Natural Childbirth Story

by Camile
(WI)

My first daughter was born Feb 4th 2009. I had a very normal pregnancy and I knew I wanted a natural birth.

I started having contractions at about 2:30 in the morning. By 11:30 we set out to go to the hospital. It was an hour drive and we wanted to stop and buy a camera! We stopped quick at a Walmart and my husband was talking to the salesperson, asking which one has the best quality and megabytes, when I was finally like, " Hunny, get one now!!"

We got to the hospital at 1:00-ish. My midwife said I was about 2-3 cm and that we could probably head home. I would not budge! I knew she was coming soon.

I had several contractions and used the birthing ball and the toilet to help my baby move down the birth canal. At one point, I was on the toilet and my husband Nick was on a little wheely chair outside the open door. I said, "Hunny, I can feel her head and he was like, "Relax relax."

I screamed, "I can feel her head!" and just like that 4 nurses and my midwife come running in the room, knocking Nick off his chair and they quickly got me back to the bed.

My midwife broke my water quick and it splattered everywhere and two pushes later that little sweet 6lbs 14 ounces 20.5 inch baby girl was born!

We named her Madison Francesca! She was beautiful! She was very alert and able to nurse! It was a wonderful experience I will never forget, exactly what I wanted! She was born at exactly 6:00pm.
